Bamboo rice also known as Moongil Arisi is from the tribal areas of Southern India, unlike other rice cultivation bamboo rice is sourced from a flowering bamboo at the end of its life span. It takes somewhere between 50 to 100 years for the bamboo to bloom and produce rice.
Bamboo rice is rich in nutrients and has higher protein content compared to usual rice and wheat. It also has carbohydrates, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, and B6, minerals calcium, iron, phosphorus, and fiber.
